Job Summary

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of financial statements, maintaining general ledger accounts, reconciling bank statements, and performing other accounting duties as assigned. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and analytical skills, capable of working independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • General Ledger Accounting:
    • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
    • Prepare and post journal entries.
    • Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
    • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
    • Prepare supporting schedules and analyses for financial reports.
    • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable:
    • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
    • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances.
    • Assist with the preparation and processing of invoices and payments.
  • Bank Reconciliations:
    • Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
    • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Fixed Assets:
    • Maintain the fixed asset ledger and depreciation schedules.
    • Record asset acquisitions and disposals.
  • Compliance and Controls:
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting procedures.
  • Other Duties:
    • Assist with special projects and ad-hoc reporting as required.
    • Provide support to other members of the accounting team.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 3-5 years of accounting experience preferred.
    • Experience with accounting and other software (e.g., QuickBooks, Expensify, Salesforce) is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid office environment with standard working hours.
  • Occasional overtime may be required during peak periods (e.g., month-end, year-end).
